POLITICAL.. The I.F.S. predicts the changes to universal credit will leave 3 million families £1000 a year worse off. With the total loss of benefits most of it , in work benefits, running to £43b over 5 years.

Finally May I take this opportunity to wish all London Members L54 branch A Happy New YEAR and Greetings for 2016.

Lena Sharp Branch Secretary.

Even Osborne’s little joke of recasting the minimum wage as a “living wage “ soon unravelled as people saw that his £9 per hour by 2020 less benefits, was less than Ed’s £8 per hour by 2020.

Amongst the hardest hit will be families living in high rent homes and single families who on average could lose p to £40 per week. Housing charities forecast this will lead to more homelessness and homeless misery.

For some , the intended post 2017 benefit cuts for families of more the 3 children ( we don’t know all the details yet) is also a typical Tory policy as it will only hit the poorest in society. Remind you of China anyone. All in all there can be no doubt that this budget will bring more misery for many and widen the two-tier wealth divide of the U.K. the fight back will be difficult, but one we can’t shirk. More than ever we need to take the message to the  CLP’s which you can only do if your branch is affiliated and join the local community on the many protest that are bound to follow this diverse and punitive budget.
